Hello!
My name is Rosemary. I am a freelance Dance artist, Meditation teacher and BSL/Eng Interpreter. I live in Leeds and work predominantly in the Leeds area. The threads between the three parts of my working life life are that I am passionate about communicating and exploring ideas through movement and that I enjoy the craft of bringing people together to find understanding through shared experience.
As a Dance Artist, nature and a love of language influence my work. I am particularly interested in improvisation, Skinner Releasing Technique and interdisciplinary projects. I passionately believe that dance should be for everyone.
My journey to become a British Sign Language/English Interpreter, started off working in the deaf community as a PA to Deaf Adults. I then went on to work as a CSW in a Primary School and then on to Bradford College. My time at Bradford college sparked an interest in educational interpreting; in particular Higher Education. Since qualifying as an interpreter, I have specialised in this area.
Teaching Meditation is the most recent development of my practice. I’ve been meditating in some form for over a decade. During the pandemic, meditation was my rock. I realised that this amazing tool had served me so well over the years, and was struck with a desire to share it with others. I certified through the British School of Meditation in 2022. Being able to pass on this valuable skill gives me great joy.

Rosemary…and Kerry Butterworth created beautiful, exciting and far reaching work with a group of staff at The Fire Service.
