Moving Landscapes

Moving Landscapes

Moving Landscapes is an annual 5day dance intensive in the North of England. The course is led by myself and Sophie Alder and was set up in 2013.

It incorporates daily Skinner Releasing Technique (SRT) classes with improvisation. It uses SRT as a starting point, promoting improved alignment, effortless movement and greater awareness. The imagery and ideas are then taken into two contrasting environments; the secluded forest of Timble and the vast, rocky landscape of Brimham Rocks. Inside and outside are integrated, allowing new perception and creativity to emerge.

Location:

Otley, nr Leeds

Project Duration:

Since 2013

Next Course:

28st July – 1st August 2025 – for Information on the course click here.

Wonderful

“Wonderful. Really lovely to take moving into the outside and bringing it back into the studio. Felt a really Strong connection with nature this week and has helped with feeding into the stillness and quiet”

Felt perfect

The content was full of opportunities to enrich and deepen my knowledge of Skinner. There were so many interesting tasks to guide us into worlds of freedom and connection. The balance between technique in the studio and trips felt perfect, allowing one to complement the other throughout the week.

Fascinating introduction

A joyful, meaningful week spent in the company of wonderful people, experienced teachers, wise trees, lush mosses and ferns, and ancient rocks. This was a fascinating introduction to Skinner Release Technique and a unique opportunity to move both deeply and playfully in the most stunning and varied landscapes. Thank you!

Incredibly evocative and inspiring

Moving Landscapes Participant 2023

Infectious enthusiasm

It was a really well-balanced course. Time in the studio and time outdoors complemented each other. Rosemary and Sophie are great teachers, with slightly different energies, and these blended together really well. They made SRT feel really accessible and there was no judgment. Their enthusiasm for SRT is infectious!

Re-connect with the body

“An opportunity to let go, re-connect with the body, mind and natural earth all whilst dancing and sharing oneself with wonderful artists, dancers and lovely, positive open minded people.

Skilful guidance

“Just spent a week up on Otley Chevin with Rosemary on the Skinner Releasing Technique week. I’ve worked with several leading teachers in the somatic movement dance field and I was delighted to find I was in very capable hands with Rosemary’s skilful guidance. She has that capacity to hold and facilitate a group so that you barely even notice it, facilitation at its best for me! What lies beneath that though is her years of training and experience in many modalities that she brings together to offer space for body-mind integration using meditative movement practices to find your own inner movement. Delicious. I will be back next year.”
