Why Me?

With over 15years of experience of moving, learning, teaching, managing projects and making art in one form or another in collaboration with others, I can bring a wealth of experience to any project. I view my journey in the arts, and life itself, as an ongoing process of learning. A journey which is to be enjoyed and shared.

My multifaceted portfolio career means that I have much to draw on outside of the knowledge you may expect in dance and the Arts. This knowledge allows me to be flexible in my work style and to excel at working with community groups and project management.

If you have a project in mind you would like me to be involved in, get in touch via email and I’ll be happy to discuss it.

Sensitive and skilled dancer

“Rosemary is an incredibly sensitive and skilled dancer, whom I have had the good fortune to work with on several occasions. We have collaborated together to incorporate her deeply embodied dancing to interpret poetry of mine. She is a joy to work with and always totally professional and reliable as well as flexible and creative.”

Fascinating introduction

A joyful, meaningful week spent in the company of wonderful people, experienced teachers, wise trees, lush mosses and ferns, and ancient rocks. This was a fascinating introduction to Skinner Release Technique and a unique opportunity to move both deeply and playfully in the most stunning and varied landscapes. Thank you!

Re-connect with the body

“An opportunity to let go, re-connect with the body, mind and natural earth all whilst dancing and sharing oneself with wonderful artists, dancers and lovely, positive open minded people.

Sound and Movement

“Rosemary has played an integral role of the use of sound and movement interaction in contexts of Creative and Healthy Ageing. Her teaching in Skinner Releasing Technique has also nurtured me throughout the years. Working with Rosemary in community contexts has been so inspiring! Leeds, we are very lucky to have her!”

Warm and generous teacher

“Rosemary is  a warm and generous teacher in the dance studio. She really opens up new possibilities for her students, with her gentle encouragement, and the creative improvisations and choreographies she brings to the room.

I thoroughly enjoy her approach, both as a participant in her classes, and as a colleague. She has initiated some vibrant new projects for dancers of all ages, including the imaginative ‘Cycles’, which explored the seasons of nature through words, movement and image, using different practitioners to lead each session, and allowing them to add their own distinctive voice. The inspiration for that particular project reflects her own deep love of the natural world – and she often takes dance out of the studio, into the wild open, to add extra inspiration.

Rosemary is mesmerising to watch as a performer – very fluid and sensual – and a real joy to dance with.”

Infectious enthusiasm

It was a really well-balanced course. Time in the studio and time outdoors complemented each other. Rosemary and Sophie are great teachers, with slightly different energies, and these blended together really well. They made SRT feel really accessible and there was no judgment. Their enthusiasm for SRT is infectious!

Beautiful, exciting and far reaching work

“Rosemary worked as a freelance dance artist on Going Sane, a project I managed at Hoot Creative Arts . She had a fantastic collaborative relationship with Kerry Butterworth, a visual artist . Together they created beautiful, exciting and far reaching work with a group of staff at The Fire Service.

Rosemary has a gentle, perceptive and astute depth to her work and it was great to see how she interacted and encouraged the participants to take part and take risks- some of whom had never done dance or movement work before. She continued on other projects at Hoot and we would always look to offer her dance / movement work as she was a really valuable part of our offer.”

Skilful guidance

“Just spent a week up on Otley Chevin with Rosemary on the Skinner Releasing Technique week. I’ve worked with several leading teachers in the somatic movement dance field and I was delighted to find I was in very capable hands with Rosemary’s skilful guidance. She has that capacity to hold and facilitate a group so that you barely even notice it, facilitation at its best for me! What lies beneath that though is her years of training and experience in many modalities that she brings together to offer space for body-mind integration using meditative movement practices to find your own inner movement. Delicious. I will be back next year.”

Felt perfect

The content was full of opportunities to enrich and deepen my knowledge of Skinner. There were so many interesting tasks to guide us into worlds of freedom and connection. The balance between technique in the studio and trips felt perfect, allowing one to complement the other throughout the week.

Leap at the chance to work with Rosemary

“I first met Rosemary as a student in 2014 when she was teaching Skinner Releasing Technique (SRT) in Leeds. I then went on to work as dancer/performer under the direction of Rosemary and Kerri Butterworth for Paperwork’s I.D.entity installation performance which took place at East Street Arts in 2016.

Since taking that first class in SRT in 2014, it has ignited in me a love for the practice and I have gone on to participate in Rosemary’s Moving Landscapes intensive twice, and Winter workshops to complete the introductory series. Rosemary is a wonderful teacher, as a mover she gives you the space and capacity to think and move freely, but also prompts you to explore to new depths – something I value as a student and try to capture as a teacher now as a result.

As a performer, I loved every moment of working on the I.D.entity project under Rosemary which was imbued with so much attention, and thought that it was easy to bring it to life. Rosemary gave me the freedom to explore the installation through my own lens, but also helped to coax out the texture and tone that she desired.

Without a doubt, I would leap at the chance to work with Rosemary again if she asked me, and will continue to take her classes and train with her in the future.”
